Currently, Musa Ssegaabwe leads the standings, but the final results will be decided on the day.
The MMC Mbarara Autocross is designed to provide a platform for new drivers to familiarize themselves with the dynamics of rallying, while also offering seasoned competitors valuable seat time to fine-tune their vehicles. It promises to be an action-packed event as crews take to the track, which spans a technical 5.8 km course featuring smooth roads and loose gravel.
So far, 15 crews have confirmed their participation, with several notable names in the mix. Among them are Mbarara’s own Didas Matsiko and Yasin Mukasa, who will be representing the region with determination. Didas Matsiko, known for his impressive driving skills, will be behind the wheel of a Subaru impreza wrx, and he will be joined by Topher Katera, also in a Subaru GC8.
Crews from Kampala will be a major presence as well, including well-known names like Dr. Moustapha Mukasa, Unnisan Bakunda, Andy Musoke, and Denis Bahizi. With fierce competition from both local and Kampala-based drivers, the event promises to be a clash of skill and speed.
The action will kick off with a free practice run at 12:00 PM, giving drivers a chance to familiarize themselves with the course before the real competition begins at 1:00 PM. The event’s technical nature will test the limits of the drivers and their cars, with the loose gravel roads providing an added challenge.
With the 2024 championship title on the line, all eyes will be on the drivers as they battle for supremacy in what promises to be an exhilarating day of autocross racing in Mbarara.
