In an exciting new chapter for his rally career, Oliver Solberg has signed a deal with Toyota to compete in the 2024 World Rally Championship (WRC) season. The young Swedish driver, son of rally legend Petter Solberg, will race in the WRC2 category, driving the formidable Toyota GR Yaris Rally2.

The partnership, which marks a significant milestone for Solberg, also includes the opportunity to compete in a select number of WRC races behind the wheel of the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1. Although the exact races have yet to be confirmed, Solberg is set to participate in two or three events at the top level, adding further excitement to his 2024 campaign.

Solberg’s arrival at Toyota also paves the way for him to take over from Sami Pajari as the team’s lead driver for the 2025 WRC2 season. Pajari, who has been Toyota’s top contender in the category, will move on after the 2024 season, handing the reins over to Solberg as the team’s primary driver in the WRC2 championship.

This new partnership reflects a career path that mirrors Sami Pajari’s rise within Toyota, with Solberg following a similar trajectory: a competitive stint in WRC2, paired with selected appearances in the premier WRC category, all aimed at achieving a full-time WRC contract by 2026.

For Solberg, the 2024 season represents both a challenge and an opportunity to further develop his skills, as well as to show his potential to secure a permanent seat in the top class of WRC. With the backing of Toyota and a clear path ahead, the future looks bright for the rising star.
