The Antilag Rally Club is gearing up to celebrate its 8th anniversary in style. The event, scheduled for 30th November 2024, will be held at Nature’s Wild Cottages in Kyanja. This milestone celebration will not only mark eight years of rallying camaraderie but also serve as the official handover ceremony for the club’s newly elected executive committee and a grand finale to the 2024 motorsport season.

Founded in 2016 by Frank Ivan Segaali, fondly known as Frank Antilag, and his co-founder Katuba Ryan, the Antilag Rally Club was born out of a desire to unify rally enthusiasts across the country. Frank, an avid rally fan since childhood and later a safety marshal under UMMSMA, was driven by a vision to bridge the gaps he observed among rally fans, marshals, and drivers. The fanbase at the time was fragmented, with loyalties divided among various teams. Frank envisioned a platform where fans could set aside their allegiances and come together to celebrate their shared love for motorsport.

From these humble beginnings, the club has grown into a respected and widely recognized rally fan organization. Today, it boasts a thriving community of 260 members on its forum, including 80 fully subscribed members for 2024, with 160 actively participating in club activities. This impressive growth underscores the club’s impact in creating a united space for rally fans, drivers, and safety marshals alike.

Over the past eight years, the Antilag Rally Club has achieved remarkable milestones. It has successfully organized charity events, galas, and fundraisers for various causes, leaving a lasting mark on the communities it has supported. It holds the distinction of being the first rally fan club to officially participate in FMU-sanctioned events under safety marshaling, setting a precedent for fan clubs across the region. The club has also partnered with sponsors like Vegas Chillout and Imperial Paints, though it continues to seek larger sponsorship opportunities to further expand its programs and enhance its activities.

As the club gears up for its 8th anniversary, the excitement among its members is palpable. The event promises to be a spectacular affair, filled with activities that reflect the vibrant spirit of the club. Guests can look forward to a lively rally-themed environment, complete with barbecue, drinks, and music that will keep the celebrations going late into the night. Members and well-wishers will also have the chance to connect, share stories, and celebrate the club’s accomplishments over the years.

The highlight of the event will be the official swearing-in of the newly elected executive committee. This transition marks the beginning of a new chapter for the club, as it continues to build on its legacy of fostering unity and inclusivity within the motorsport community.

Looking ahead, the Antilag Rally Club remains committed to its mission of bringing together rally enthusiasts from all walks of life. While the club has achieved significant milestones, it recognizes the need for greater resources to support its ambitious plans. Securing larger sponsorships will be key to unlocking its full potential and enabling it to make an even greater impact on Uganda’s motorsport scene. It has successfully created a space where rally fans can belong, regardless of the teams they support, and has played a pivotal role in promoting safety, unity, and enthusiasm within the sport.

As the countdown to 30th November begins, rally fans and well-wishers are invited to join the celebration and be part of this incredible journey. The event, which kicks off at 11:00 AM, promises to be a fitting tribute to the club’s legacy and a joyful reflection of the spirit that has carried it through eight remarkable years.
