Aine Sodo Partners with Uganda Tourism Board for Kaabalega Hoima Rally 2024

In a groundbreaking move, the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has entered the thrilling arena of motorsport by partnering with Aine Sodo Kaguta of the Sodo Rally Team ahead of the much-anticipated Kaabalega Hoima Rally 2024. Scheduled for November 23rd and 24th, this rally marks the final round of the Uganda National Rally Championship (NRC), and Sodo’s team will serve as brand ambassadors for UTB, championing the “Explore Uganda” campaign.
The announcement was made at a press briefing where UTB CEO Lilian Ajarova highlighted the significance of this collaboration. “This is a special partnership that will promote Uganda as a premier tourism destination. Motorsport is an exciting new arena for us, and through this initiative, we aim to showcase the incredible culture, destinations, and hidden gems of Uganda. Hoima, the host region, offers a rare depth of natural beauty and cultural richness that deserves to be discovered,” Ajorova stated.
She urged rally enthusiasts to embrace the event as an opportunity to explore their country. “We want fans to attend the rally, enjoy the action, and at the same time discover Uganda’s breathtaking landscapes and heritage. This partnership expands the narrative of what tourism can offer and builds a stronger connection between sports and travel.”
For Aine Sodo Kaguta, this partnership is a dream realized after years of self-sponsorship. Speaking with evident pride, Sodo shared, “This is my first-ever sponsorship, and it’s a result of three years of persistent effort. I’ve always been passionate about my country and exploring its beauty, so this partnership with the Uganda Tourism Board aligns perfectly with what I love.”
Sodo will pilot his recently acquired Mitsubishi Evo X alongside co-driver Asuman Mohammed. The duo will compete in the Division 2 category, leveraging their role as UTB ambassadors to elevate the “Explore Uganda” campaign.“This collaboration is more than just motorsport; it’s about showcasing Uganda’s potential as a destination. I’m honored to represent UTB and my country at such a significant event,” Sodo added.
The Kaabalega Hoima Rally promises to be a spectacle, with 23 crews confirmed for participation. This final NRC round features a total distance of 228.12 kilometers, including 126.97 kilometers of competitive stages and 101.15 kilometers of liaison sections.The championship title remains fiercely contested, with heavyweights like Jas Mangat, Ronald Sebuguzi, and Dr. Moustapha Mukasa battling for supremacy.
With Sodo as a passionate advocate for both motorsport and Uganda’s natural beauty, this collaboration sets a precedent for future initiatives that combine sports and tourism.
