The motorsport scene is buzzing with excitement as local crews gear up for the much-anticipated return of the Ismail Ortega Sprint, scheduled to take place on 27th October 2024 at Festino City in Mukono. The event, which marks the 2nd round of the Uganda Sprint Championship, has drawn over 35 confirmed participants, promising thrilling action for fans and competitors alike.

Ortega, a familiar name in Uganda’s motorsport circles, has been out of the rally scene for nearly eight years. This sprint event is more than just a competition—it’s a fundraiser to help him get back on track. With the support of the motorsport community, the event aims to raise funds for Ortega to acquire a Subaru Impreza N10, a car tailored for the rugged Ugandan terrain. This vehicle could be Ortega’s ticket to reigniting his rally career.

The event has drawn notable names in Ugandan motorsport, with confirmed entries including rally veterans like Peter Kalule, Omar Mayanja, Ponsiano Lwakataka, Andy Musoke, and Musa Ssegaabwe. These experienced drivers are not only competing for championship points but are also supporting a fellow racer’s return to the track.

As entries continue to flow in, expectations are high that this sprint will deliver adrenaline-pumping moments for fans, with fast-paced action and fierce competition on display. With the motorsport fraternity rallying behind Ortega, the event promises to be a highlight on the Uganda Sprint Championship calendar, with both established drivers and rising stars contributing to a cause that transcends competition.

All eyes will be on Festino City as the local crews, fans, and motorsport enthusiasts come together for an unforgettable event, filled with high-speed thrills and the spirit of camaraderie that defines Uganda’s rally scene.
