IUEA Partners with Auto Show Uganda, Backs Drifting Action and Scholarship Giveaway

Motorsport enthusiasts are in for an action-packed weekend after the International University of East Africa (IUEA) officially unveiled its partnership with the Auto Show Uganda during a press conference held today ahead of the highly anticipated event. The three-day automotive extravaganza is scheduled to run from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19 at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, promising a thrilling blend of speed, skill and entertainment for fans of all ages.

As part of the partnership, IUEA has come on board as the official sponsor of the drifting segment, supporting the drift competition and the participating drivers. The university also announced an exciting opportunity for spectators, with one lucky fan in attendance set to walk away with a scholarship courtesy of IUEA.Speaking during the launch, Auto Show Team Lead Christopher Bune encouraged more women to participate in the various activities lined up throughout the weekend, emphasizing that the event is designed to be inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. “The Auto Show is for everyone. We encourage ladies to come and actively participate in the different activities because there is something exciting for every motorsport fan,” Bune said.

The drifting arena is expected to be one of the biggest attractions of the weekend, featuring some of Uganda’s finest drift talents. Headlining the action is Ali Omar “Bobo”, whose spectacular sideways driving has made him one of the country’s most celebrated drifters under the Skid Culture banner. Fans will also witness an exciting crossover as young rally sensation Kevin “Bebeto” swaps gravel for tarmac, taking to the drift circuit in a BMW under the Skid Culture team. The promising youngster is expected to bring fresh excitement as he tests his skills in a different motorsport discipline.

Also confirmed for the drift lineup are crowd favourites Manjoe, Julio Teza, Nico, alongside several other experienced and upcoming drifters who promise to keep fans on the edge of their seats with smoke-filled slides and precision driving.Beyond drifting, visitors will enjoy an impressive car showcase, adrenaline-filled gymkhana competitions, exhibitions, family entertainment and a host of automotive displays throughout the weekend.

Organisers assured the public that comprehensive safety measures have been put in place, with dedicated safety teams, well-designed spectator zones and strict operational procedures to ensure the event is conducted in a safe and controlled environment. With a blend of motorsport action, entertainment, education opportunities and family-friendly activities, this year’s Auto Show is shaping up to be one of Uganda’s biggest automotive events, with the IUEA partnership adding even more value both on and off the track.
