Battle Lines Drawn as UMOSPOC Kabalega Rally Begins in Hoima

All eyes are on Hoima as the UMOSPOC Kabalega Rally officially gets underway, marking the decisive final round of the 2025 National Rally Championship (NRC). With twenty crews successfully passing scrutineering today, anticipation is at its peak ahead of tomorrow’s competitive action, which will feature three long stages and a superspecial stage in the afternoon.This final round will determine the champions across multiple categories, setting the stage for a high-stakes showdown however , the championship battle has narrowed to two contenders.

Ronald Sebuguzi and Anthony Mugambwa enter the event at the top of the leaderboard, holding a strong advantage after a season of consistent performances. Close behind them are Mussa Segaabwe and Mathias Kiyega, who remain firmly in contention and will be pushing for a decisive result to challenge for the title.
A major development in the championship picture came as third-place contenders Ponsiano Lwakataka and Paul Musazi did not show up for this round. Their absence leaves the NRC battle squarely between Sebuguzi and Segaabwe, heightening the intensity of the final stages.
The fight in the 2WD category also promises fierce competition, with all crews ready to give their best in the final outing of the season. Mansoor Lubega comes into the rally with a significant advantage and holds the upper hand in the championship standings. With a solid and measured drive, he stands well-positioned to secure the 2025 2WD crown.
In the CRC class, the championship outcome is nearly certain. Walter Kibande and Duncan Katumba only need to finish the rally irrespective of position to secure the 2025 CRC Championship. Their consistency throughout the season has built a commanding lead that their rivals cannot overturn.
Ahmed Kateete sits in second place, while Kevin Bebeto holds third. Although Bebeto has no chance of clinching the championship, he heads into the rally with determination to finish the season on a strong note.

A notable highlight and Adding excitement to the edition is the highly anticipated debut of Joshua Muwanguzi and co-driver Hamza Lwanga, who will be appearing for the first time in a Subaru Impreza GVB. The pair steps up after years in an N12 platform, marking a significant upgrade in machinery and competitive potential.
With all competing crews cleared and ready, Hoima is set for a defining day of rallying. The UMOSPOC Kabalega Rally will not only deliver thrilling action across its carefully designed stages but will also crown champions in multiple categories.
