The Beast is Back and Masaka is Not Ready!

By Mwambazi Lawrence
Silugambo, Silugambo! I repeat, Silugambo! The enemy has been sighted in Kalelwe, and I can now confirm that Duncan Mubiru, aka Kikankane, is back in action! After what felt like an eternity a full year to be exact of Kikankane being on a sabbatical, sending his Ford Fiesta NRC Proto all the way to Latvia for a full rebuild, the beast has finally returned home! And it’s not just back, it’s back with a vengeance!

The petrol heads have been whispering in dark corners, speculating whether Kikankane had retired, taken up farming, or secretly joined NASA to rally on the moon. Some even suggested he had abandoned the rally world to focus on perfecting his Rolex-making skills. But lo and behold, the lion of Ugandan rallying has roared once again! His newly rebuilt monster is now stationed at his garage in Kalelwe, probably whispering to the other cars, “Step aside, children, the king has returned!”
And what better battlefield than Masaka? for this dramatic comeback than the next NRC round in Masaka, just a few days away? If you thought Masaka was famous for its Nsenene and katogo, think again. The upcoming rally is about to rewrite the history books, and Kikankane is ready to turn the roads into his personal playground.

To those who thought they could breathe easy in his absence, your joy was short-lived! The championship contenders had probably started thinking, “Eh, life is good without Kikankane chasing us like a mosquito in a dark room.” But now, he’s back, and he’s coming for blood! The way he’s fired up, we won’t be surprised if he does reconnaissance at 200 km/h just to perfect his notes.’

Masaka residents, hide your goats, secure your jerrycans, because when Kikankane is in town, even boda bodas start thinking they are rally cars! When you see a blue missile flying past, don’t panic, don’t call the police it’s just Duncan Mubiru reminding everyone why he’s one of the most feared men in Ugandan rallying.
Meanwhile, Kikankane die-hards have not slept since the first spy shots of the rebuilt beast surfaced online. “Banange, my heart has been in ICU for months waiting for this day! Now that the car is here, Masaka better prepare itself because tears are going to flow!” said one devoted fan WRX Mugerwa, clutching his Kikankane-branded t-shirt like it was a national flag.
“I was sleeping peacefully in my rally dreams, thinking I had a chance this season, but now? Now I have nightmares of Kikankane flying past me at speeds that should be illegal! Masaka, brace yourself this is not a drill!” said Nasser Mutebi, shaking his head in disbelief.
The big question now is who is ready to take him on? Will Jas Mangat rise to the occasion? Will Yassin Nasser remind us why he’s the 2023 champ? Or will Kikankane mark his return with a dominating performance that leaves the competition eating dust (literally)? Only time will tell!
One thing is for sure Masaka, get ready because this rally is going to be an absolute blast! Buckle up, grab your vuvuzelas, and let the battle begin!
