Team Uganda Sets Off for the Exciting Rwanda Huye Rally

Kampala, Uganda – Today marks a significant departure as Team Uganda heads off to participate in the much-anticipated Rwanda Huye Rally, scheduled for this weekend from the 14th to the 16th of June 2024. Representing Uganda in this prestigious event, a formidable team of four crews will face off against top competitors from Burundi and Rwanda.

Leading the charge for Uganda is the 2010 national rally champion, Nasser Mutebi, alongside co-driver Steven Bunya, piloting a Mitsubishi Evo9. The experienced duo aims to leverage their seasoned skills and strategic prowess to secure a top position. Joining them is Fred Busulwa Kitaka with co-driver Joseph Bongole in a Subaru Impreza N14, promising fierce competition with their dynamic teamwork.

Another prominent entry is Dr. Moustapha Mukasa, who will be co-driven by Mwambazi Lawrence in a Mitsubishi Evo9. Their combination of precision and speed is expected to be a strong contender on the challenging tracks. Rounding off the team is Julious Semambo with Diana Nagawa in their trusty Toyota Corolla, ready to tackle the rally’s demanding stages.

Adding to Uganda’s robust representation is a team of motorcross riders is set to depart on Thursday, led by the seasoned George Semakula. These riders are poised to showcase their agility and endurance, adding an exciting dimension to the rally.

From Burundi, the rally will witness the skills of Awadin Imitiaz and Rukundo Alain in a Subaru Impreza, while Din Imitiaz and co-driver Mwanantembe Yasser will compete in a Subaru Impreza GC8. Their participation signals a strong challenge to the other teams.

Team Rwanda, the host nation, will be led by the experienced duo Giancarlo Davite and Sandrine Isheja in a Mitsubishi EvoX. Another notable competitor is Yoto Fabrice, driving his newly acquired Subaru Impreza N12 with co-driver Fernand Rutabingwa. In a historic appearance, sole female driver Kalimpinya Queen, co-driven by Olivier Ngabo, will compete in a Subaru Impreza GC8, showcasing the growing inclusivity in the sport. Additionally, Christian Kanangire and Kevin Mujiji in a Subaru Impreza N12 are expected to be strong contenders.

The rally will kick off with a qualifying stage right in the heart of Huye town, setting the stage for the thrilling competition ahead. To add an extra layer of excitement, the event will feature four night stages on Saturday, promising to be a spectacle for rally fans.

As Team Uganda sets off with high hopes and rigorous preparation, the rally community eagerly anticipates a weekend of intense competition, remarkable sportsmanship, and thrilling motorsport action.
